The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for Analyst/Senior Analyst professionals within the Investment Governance and Supplier Management team to provide fit for purpose investment & commercial governance of the investment management and support functions. The company has recently adopted an agile way of working.

The role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne.


Key Accountabilities

As a member of the Investment Management Chapter the Analyst/Senior Analyst will be expected to jointly deliver in the following focus areas:

High Quality Decisions

  • Manage the agenda of the Asset Liability & Investment Committee, prepare decision and action registers and communicate actions/decisions
  • Review papers for the Board including against policies and delegation framework and provide challenge to contribute to the quality of recommendations
  • Manage and evolving the Investment Management Team delegation framework & assist with conflicts management
  • Providing management assurance for decisions and diligence processes within the IMT

Investment Policies & Risk Governance

  • Be the subject matter experts on investment policies, maintain policies and enable application of polices across the IMT (Derivative Risk Management, SPS 530 liquidity & stress testing, investment options monitoring in the interest of policyholders/superannuation members)
  • Developing and overseeing the implementation of the ESG investment policy
  • Design governance requirements for risk monitoring in IMT from time to time (eg. applying Risk Appetite Statement across the Investment Management Team)

Obligations & Compliance

  • Guiding the IMT's management of obligations (policies, contractual and regulatory)
  • Develop & maintain framework for operational due diligence of investment managers
  • Running the incident monitoring process for the IMT on a timely basis & driving resolution of issues, with a particular focus on investment management agreement exceptions

Supplier Management

  • On boarding & monitoring supplier Compliance & Service Levels
  • Manage the key investment supplier contracts (investment managers & external data providers) including coordinating and executing changes and assisting negotiation
  • Coordinating the relationship agenda for the major investment manager, the superannuation trustee and other emerging suppliers
  • Contract invoice validation for and allocating investment expenses between the shareholder & policyholder

Analysts/Senior Analysts will be allocated work based on business needs, current skills and personal development plans.

To be successful in this role you will have

  • Demonstrated experience in investment governance/ investment operations/ middle office management/ documentation/ asset management/ investment compliance/ actuarial
  • Awareness or understanding of relevant APRA standards such as CPS 226, SPS 530, CPS 231
  • Commercial ability to read and understand/interpret legal agreements, and help with negotiations
  • An understanding of the broader aspects and operation of the full investment team functions and exposure to various investment decision
  • Understanding of Incident management process discipline and compliance
  • Experience writing Committee and Board papers and managing approval processes
  • Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • CFA, Actuarial or other relevant investment related qualifications or studying toward
